Artist and graphic designer behind RB's designs
One thing’s for sure: You loooove the designs on Rose Buddha leggings.
Lotus flowers, English gardens, cacti and elephants, the designs on Rose Buddha leggings make the brand a huge hit. Not to mention the leggings are super comfy and eco-friendly!
Meet the creator, artist and graphic designer Émilie Beaudoin. Here’s an interview with our image virtuoso!
Describe your process with Rose Buddha. How does your collaboration work?
I find our process to be pretty simple in that Rose Buddha always comes to me with a clear vision in mind. They send me a topic, along with inspiration for colours and what they think is beautiful. That’s always enough to get me a good start. Next I create the illustration. I send off a preliminary sketch, they give me adjustments to make, and we’re off!
Where do you get your inspiration?
Pinterest provides an indispensable catalogue for seeing what’s popular within a specific search criteria. But it can also come from anything that catches my eye in décor, advertising, fashion, or publishing, just about anywhere or anything.
Concretely, what is your work process like? Do you draw on the computer or by hand? Do you cut and paste images?
I do arts and crafts! I start by writing or sketching ideas. Next, I create a “canvas” on the computer. I begin with a main element and out of this, I “weave” my canvas. That’s really my only “method. After this, it can go in any direction: drawings by hand or on the graphic tablet, photo retouching and collages, scanned textures, effects, etc.
I really love trying new ways of working and exploring new styles so I end up doing this intuitively.
