Lithotherapy: minerals and their virtues

Lithotherapy: minerals and their virtues

Since the dawn of time, humans have been fascinated by the benefits of minerals. Egyptians, Aztecs and Native Americans saw a protective virtue in each and every gemstone acting both in medical treatments and for cultivating spiritual well-being.

When worn as a pendant or placed on chakras, the power of minerals restores balance and soothes our body, mind, and soul.

What is lithotherapy?

Lithotherapy refers to the art of healing with stones and minerals.  It  is a holistic approach based on the influence of minerals on a medical and therapeutic level.

How does it work?

To better understand lithotherapy, one must first acknowledge the existence of non-visible energies which manifest both around and within ourselves.

According to lithotherapy, each and every gemstone and semi-precious stone is made of a specific energy which varies according to its crystallization, compound and colour.  The power of the stone lies in this same energy, and from here, it is believed that vibrations can influence both our physical and psychological states. These energetic vibrations penetrate us and influence our own energy. By positively changing the energy within and around us, we can experience many benefits such as releasing stress and emotional blockages, increasing joy and courage, and improving sleep and digestion, just to name a few.

Beautiful and/or good for us?

Because we are drawn to their beauty, we all own at least one gemstone, whether it is jade jewelry or a piece quartz.  But is it really their aesthetics we are after, or are we unconsciously seeking out their unconscious benefits? That is a good question!
